Welcome to the CandyCoatedUS blog! In this and future posts, we hope to answer questions, provide tips and tricks, and respond to customer needs. So, if you have questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to let us know, we’d be glad to answer them here.
First, a bit about us. We’re a very small team of crafters as well as a few admin personnel. We do this for fun and in addition to having full-time jobs. We don’t make big money off this; all the income goes into paying crafters and admin help and goes back into research and design for new fun products. We do it because we want to spread some shiny fun around the world.
Now, about PVC. If you haven’t tried it before, it’s very different from latex, spandex, or other common materials. The PVC we use is purely plastic, with no fabric backing. So it doesn’t really stretch. Some of the softer PVC sheeting might have a little give, but even that won’t really stretch. So when you’re measuring, we recommend you add a bit of extra to be sure you’ll fit.
PVC is generally smooth and either shiny or a bit matte. It makes great inflatable costumes and toys because it will “push back” when pressed, like a beach ball.
We have two categories of inflatables we make: In-house and factory-made. For the in-house products, our team of crafters uses special vinyl glue to build durable costumes and clothing out of previously existing inflatable toys or PVC clothes. For factory-made, we work closely with an experienced offshore factory to design and craft more complex or custom pieces. Whether in-house or factory-made, we evaluate each piece in-house for safety and durability and put it through a multi-step testing process before it ships to you.
We’re excited to be able to share about our inflatable creations with you, from care to best practices to behind-the-scenes tidbits. Keep an eye out for our next PVC posts!
